How Forgiveness Positively Effects Overall Health & Well-being

As someone who has assisted a fair few people to move through , and heal many different things, over the years, I began to notice something interesting!

The people who were able to bring forgiveness into the healing experience had the most profound healing experiences. Compared to those who were not able to let go of feelings of resentment, anger, or bitterness. The ones unable to, or not ready to remained blocked to experience the full experience of liberation.

I wrote about the importance of Forgiveness in a blog titled "Moving Beyond Forgiveness" yet I realised recentlymore needs to be shared about this topic.

I believe it is important to share how Forgiveness can positively impact our overall health and well-being.

Staying locked into states of resentment, and unforgiveness, keeps the nervous system stuck in low levels of stress. Overtime this will compromise the immune system. As well as heart health. Our emotional states, and mental states, directly impact our physical health.

Chronic unresolved resentment can cause a weakened immune system, physical pain in the body, as well as mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety. Emotional withdrawal can be a result of this too.

When we choose to forgive, it directly reduces inflammation in the body. Inflammation in the body long-term can lead to distruptions to normal metabolic function, and can lead to health issues such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

Inflammation in the body for long periods of time will interfere with how the bodies tissues process insulin, leading to insulin resistance. It can also lead to cartilage and bone deterioration. This then usually leads to painful, stiff, or swollen joints.

Long term inflammation can also alter healthy cellular function and DNA. It can also create digestive issues, which could over time cause damage to the intestinal lining.

Choosing to forgive our neurochemistry can completely shift when we choose to forgive. Areas like the temporoparietal junction of the brain light up on brain scans when qe forgive. This area of the brain is responsible for beliefs, intents and desires. It helps us to process our external environment, understand others better and maintain Self-Awareness.

Resentment and unforgiveness often leads to prolonged stress, and chronic over-thinking. When we choose to forgive the Amygdala of the brain quiets, and the stress hormones drop.

The Amygdala is the threat detector and has the job of detecting potential dangers. Long-term stress can leave the Amygdala stuck in fight or flight mode. When we choose to forgive, the brain permanently disengages from over-thinking, and chronic looping in fight or flight mode.

Forgiveness is an active cognitive process. It can actually help us to rewire neural pathways by calming the brains threat-detection center as mentioned above when discussing the Amygdala.

When we are stuck in resentment and unforgiveness, it is like a poison that overtime destroys trust, health, peace, intimacy, happiness and the ability to live fully in the present.

When we let go of resentment we will stop absorbing that poison, and more easily allow in peace of mind, and good health, happiness and well-being.

Unforgiveness keeps us stuck in the past. When we are stuck in the past we end up swimming in the murky watersof pain, resentment, anger, confusion, heaviness, burdens, upset, and sadness. We end up looping in a replay of something that caused us great hurt.

Forgiveness helps us to leave the murky waters we once swam through, and find peace of mind. As well as healing, and the possibility to transform the heaviness into lightness. And transform survival mode into thriving mode.

Forgiveness assists us to move through, and even let go of, all the pain, resentments, anger, confusion, heaviness, burdens, upset and sadness.

Through Forgiveness we can stop the looping and replaying of the past and start fully living in the present.

Forgiveness sets you free!

The simple shift of looking inward rather than outward is the first step!

Forgiveness is the conscious act of liberating yourself from resentment, anger, and any heavy burdens of the past. In doing so you can also open up to a heathier body, better mental health, and a more balanced way of seeing everything.

Forgiveness is a powerful shift in our point of view. It is not to give the other, or others involved permission to continue bad, or wrong behaviour yet it gives you the permission to move forward in your own life!

To move forward into a happier and healthier way of being.

And before I end this blog, it is also important to share resentment and unforgiveness, can potentially if in those energies for longer than needed, can open you up to astral parasites, and negative entity attachments. As well as create tears , openings and holes in your aura.

So please remember...

Forgiveness is something to assist you in releasing the heavy burdens of the past.
